Note: Best-performing quantum computer could transform technology by 2027. Quantum computing is gaining significance globally, with Europe positioning itself as a leader in the field. The EU-funded QLSI2 project will bring together 23 partners from 9 countries to demonstrate a 200-qubit semiconductor-based quantum computer by 2027. QLSI2 will focus on making this technology accessible through the cloud and demonstrating meaningful practical applications. European experts in quantum technologies will collaborate to create a roadmap that covers the entire supply chain, ensuring that the technology can be scaled up for large-scale production. Utilising approaches based on heterostructures and fully depleted silicon on insulator, the project aims to advance both technological and manufacturing capabilities.
