The Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly (CANE) evaluates met and unmet care needs in older individuals. Reports on needs of the elderly with depression are currently lacking. The aim of the present study was to identify met and unmet needs in older primary care patients with and without depression using the German-language version of the CANE. Furthermore, the association between unmet needs and depression ought to be explored.As part of the study 'Late-life depression in primary care: needs, health care utilization and costs (AgeMooDe)', a sample of 1179 primary care patients aged 75 years and older was assessed. Descriptive and inferential statistics as well as logistic regression analyses were conducted.This study, for the first time in Germany, provides data on the distribution of met and unmet needs in depressive and non-depressive older primary care patients. As a main result, unmet needs were significantly associated with depression; other risk factors identified were gender, institutionalization, care by relatives and impaired functional status.The conclusions about directions and causality of associations between the variables are limited due to the cross-sectional design.The study results provide an important contribution to generate a solid base for an effective and good-quality health and social care as well as to an appropriate allocation of health care resources in the elderly population. 000138365 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-344$$a344 - Clinical and Health Care Research (POF3-344)$$cPOF3-344$$fPOF III$$x0 000138365 542__ $$2Crossref$$i2016-03-01$$uhttps://www.elsevier.com/tdm/userlicense/1.0/ 000138365 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, PubMed, 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aAged 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aAged, 80 and over 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aCase-Control Studies 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aCross-Sectional Studies 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aDepression: complications 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aFemale 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aGermany 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aHumans 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aMale 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aNeeds Assessment: statistics & numerical data 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aPrimary Health Care 000138365 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aRisk Factors 000138365 7001_ $$aPabst, Alexander$$b1 000138365 7001_ $$aWeyerer, Siegfried$$b2 000138365 7001_ $$aWerle, Jochen$$b3 000138365 7001_ $$0P:(DE-2719)2000015$$aMaier, Wolfgang$$b4$$udzne 000138365 7001_ $$0P:(DE-2719)9000126$$aHeilmann, Katharina$$b5$$udzne 000138365 7001_ $$aScherer, Martin$$b6 000138365 7001_ $$aStark, Anne$$b7 000138365 7001_ $$aKaduszkiewicz, Hanna$$b8 000138365 7001_ $$aWiese, Birgitt$$b9 000138365 7001_ $$aMamone, Silke$$b10 000138365 7001_ $$aKönig, Hans-Helmut$$b11 000138365 7001_ $$aBock, Jens-Oliver$$b12 000138365 7001_ $$aRiedel-Heller, Steffi G$$b13 000138365 77318 $$2Crossref$$3journal-article$$a10.1016/j.jad.2015.12.044$$b : Elsevier BV, 2016-03-01$$p309-317$$tJournal of Affective Disorders$$v193$$x0165-0327$$y2016 000138365 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)1500487-9$$a10.1016/j.jad.2015.12.044$$gVol. 193, p. 309 - 317$$p309-317$$q193<309 - 317$$tJournal of affective disorders$$v193$$x0165-0327$$y2016 000138365 8564_ $$uhttps://pub.dzne.de/record/138365/files/DZNE-2020-04687_Restricted.pdf 000138365 8564_ $$uhttps://pub.dzne.de/record/138365/files/DZNE-2020-04687_Restricted.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa 000138365 909CO $$ooai:pub.dzne.de:138365$$pVDB 000138365 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588)1065079516$$6P:(DE-2719)2000015$$aDeutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen$$b4$$kDZNE 000138365 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588)1065079516$$6P:(DE-2719)9000126$$aDeutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen$$b5$$kDZNE 000138365 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-344$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-340$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lErkrankungen des Nervensystems$$vClinical and Health Care Research$$x0 000138365 9141_ $$y2016 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0420$$2StatID$$aNationallizenz 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0310$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bNCBI Molecular Biology Database 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bJ AFFECT DISORDERS : 2017 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0600$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bEbsco Academic Search 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0030$$2StatID$$aPeer Review$$bASC 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bClarivate Analytics Master Journal List 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0110$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0130$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSocial Sciences Citation Index 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1180$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Social and Behavioral Sciences 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1030$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Life Sciences 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1050$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bBIOSIS Previews 000138365 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000138365 9201_ $$0I:(DE-2719)7000001$$kU Clinical Researchers - Bonn$$lU Clinical Researchers - Bonn$$x0 000138365 980__ $$ajournal 000138365 980__ $$aVDB 000138365 980__ $$aI:(DE-2719)7000001 000138365 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
