%X Image processing and manipulation is deeply related to the life sciences. The flood of new imaging devices, capable of higher resolutions and better technologies lead to an increasing number of digital images for medical biological diagnostics. Though microscopy is still an important topic, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) follow up the analogue technologies like endoscopy or radiography. There are lots of applications: quantities and localization of signaling proteins, dynamic changes of cell structures, tracking cancer cells in time-lapse recordings, and much more. In this chapter, we present a primer on image processing and manipulating using ImageJ in Java.
