Abstract: Introduction A disintegrin and metalloproteinase 15(ADAM15) is a member of the ADAM family of metallo-proteinases, which are functionally important enzymesinvolved in a wide variety of biological functions. A previ-ous study on Adam15-null mice demonstrated that malemice lacking ADAM15 developed accelerated age-relatedosteoarthritis (OA), suggesting that ADAM15 has chon-droprotective effects in OA. Despite its potentially impor-tant biological role, little is known about how ADAM15 isregulated in cartilage.
