Abstract: Background. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is caused byscrapie prion protein (PrPSc), the pathogenic form of cellularprion protein (PrPC), which is able to convert PrPC into PrPSc.1About 85% of the CJD cases appear sporadic (sCJD).2 Real-timequaking-induced conversion (RT-QuIC) uses the self-propagating properties of PrPSc to amplify it up to a detectable limit, bythe use of recombinant prion protein (rPrP) as a substrate andintermittent automated shaking. Fluorescence detection of aggregated PrPSc monitors amplification in real-time.3 Recent studiesshowed the potential of RT-QuIC to detect PrPSc in CSF of CJDpatients.4, 5, 6,7 In the present study we analyzed the influence ofsample storage conditions (StC) on the stability of the RT-QuICsignal
