Abstract: Sun et al. demonstrate that defects in autophagy cause nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) depletion and neurotoxicity.1 Restoring NAD levels rescues cytotoxicity in autophagy-deficient neurons, providing a potential therapy for neurodegenerative and lysosomal storage diseases associated with autophagy defects.
